Welcome back! In the previous lesson, we discussed the value of deepening your understanding of bears and their behaviour. Now, letโs talk about why this training is essential.
In our industry, WorkSafeBC mandates that anyone who might encounter bears in their job must have proper training.
Workers who may encounter bears in the course of their work MUST receive education and training on how to work safely around bears.
Itโs only recently that WorkSafeBC recognized the need for bear awareness and safety education in the ecotourism industry.
Despite this, many colleges and programs teaching adventure tourism still lack this essential training. Even in my degree in outdoor recreation, bear safety wasnโt covered.
This course fills that gap, providing vital knowledge you can apply in your work and share with friends and family.
Today, we highlighted the necessity of bear safety training, especially in light of industry standards and regulations. In the next lesson, weโll cover the key topics you will learn throughout this course.
And if you have any questions or thoughts along the way, feel free to post in the comment section or shoot me an email at daryl@daryldancer.com. Iโm here to help and would love to hear from you!
